Interpretation Test fees: AUD$139(application)+ $909(testing)

Application Process:

Lodge application with NAATI > Payment processed and unique NAATI number provided> Test date confirmation (usually within 12 weeks of application)> test results within 10 weeks or more NAATI – Interpreting Test Format:

Test Time for Interpretation: About 40 mins.

Part 1: Cultural and Social Aspects (5 marks)

Applicants are required to answer four oral questions on the cultural and social aspects of interpreting.

  • Two questions are in English and must be answered in English.
  • Two questions are in the LOTE and must be answered in the LOTE.

Part 2: Ethics of the Profession (5 marks)

Applicants are required to answer four questions based on the AUSIT code of ethics.

  • Two questions are in English and must be answered in English.
  • Two questions are in the LOTE and must be answered in the LOTE.

Part 3: Dialogue Interpreting (2 x 45 = 90 marks)

Two dialogues of 300 words each, between an English speaker and a speaker of the LOTE are given in two differing subject areas.

Why NAATI

  • Allows candidates to claim Credentialed Community Language (CCL) points, which may be used towards a points-based migration visa
