About ADC – Australian Dental Council

Australian Dental Council is the assessing authority for overseas qualified students in the following specialisations:

General dentists who:

  • Hold a university dental degree or diploma obtained after at least four years full-time academic study at an acknowledged university, or an appropriate qualification; and,
  • Have held full and unrestricted registration/licensure in his/her home country or country of training, and there has been no withdrawal of registration.

Dental Hygienists and/or Dental Therapists who:

  • Hold a dental hygiene and/or dental therapy qualification which was obtained after at least two years full-time academic study; and,
  • Have held full and unrestricted registration/licensure in his/her home country or country of training, and there has been no withdrawal of registration.

Dental Prosthetists who:

  • Hold a dental prosthetist qualification which was obtained after at least three years full-time academic study; and
  • Have held full and unrestricted registration/licensure in his/her home country or country of training, and there has been no withdrawal of registration.

The ADC assessment and examination procedure consists of the following steps:

The ADC Assessment applies to Step 1 of the process.

Candidates must also meet specific English language requirements in order to complete the process.

The Next Step is to prepare for the written exam

Once Cleared with the written test, you are eligible to sit for a Practical Examination.
